A Message from the Basileus.

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. was initiated at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 12, 1922.  by seven African-American female educators with a dream of transforming the world into a greater place through service, scholarship and sisterhood.  The  sorority motto, “Greater Service, Greater Progress," is what we believe in, and strive for as we serve in our communities.  

We chartered this chapter in November 2020 to continue greater service in St. Augustine! This is our centennial year, and we have so much to be proud of in our sorority, and in our chapter. To name just a few, so far our chapter has given school supplies and book bags to both elementary and middle school students, partnered with the Betty Griffin Center and St. Gerald House to help children of all ages, and partnered with Pie in the Sky Senior’s Food Program. We volunteered and participated in the March of Dimes 5K walk/run, and you may have seen our blue and gold in the Dr. Martin Luther King parade, or even cleaning up trash on King St.

Nu Epsilon Sigma Chapter members will continue to live and serve our motto throughout the St. Augustine community. Promoting One Mission, One Sisterhood, One Legacy, TOGETHER!
